Puppy Info

Welcome to our Golden Retriever puppy program! We are dedicated to producing healthy, well-tempered puppies that make wonderful family companions. Through our passion and learning from experienced breeders we are dedicated to upholding high standards in health, temperament, and breed type.

Our Commitment to Quality We carefully plan each breeding with the goal of producing puppies that excel in health, disposition, and adherence to the Golden Retriever standard. Every litter benefits from the knowledge and selective practices of responsible breeding.

Health Testing The health of our puppies starts with their parents. All dogs considered in breeding’s, including our co-owned bitch, undergo comprehensive screening that typically includes:

  • OFA or equivalent certifications for hips and elbows

  • Cardiac evaluations

  • Ophthalmologist eye exams

  • Genetic/DNA testing for key breed concerns (e.g., PRA, ichthyosis, etc.)

We believe transparency in testing is essential. All testing results can be found in our dog profiles, each linked to their testing provider.

Puppy Development & Socialization Our puppies are raised in our home as part of the family. From day one, they receive daily handling, exposure to household sounds, our son, other dogs, chickens, and varied surfaces to build confidence. We prioritize early neurological stimulation and positive experiences to set them up for success in their new homes. Puppies are regularly handled, weighed, and monitored for optimal growth.

The Puppy Process

  1. Submit an Application — Complete our puppy application (PUPPY APPLICATION). This helps us learn about your family, lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a Golden.

  2. Review & Matching — We'll reach out within 72 hours to discuss your application and current/upcoming litters.

  3. Deposit — A $600 deposit once puppies are 1 week old, reserves your spot in a specific litter (non-refundable after selection; applied to purchase price). The deposit is due within 1 week of being notified you are on that litter. The remaining balance is due when the puppies are 6 weeks old. Personal checks , Venmo, or credit card (4% fee charged) will be accepted.

  4. Preparation & Go-Home — Puppies go home around 8 weeks (or per state guidelines) after health checks, vaccinations, and deworming. We'll provide detailed records and guidance.

Matching process. Taking your puppy home.

We have learned through bringing Liberty home that the process her breeder put in place works best. Once puppies are born and families are picked we will create a private Facebook group for the litter. We will post updates on each puppy from pictures to videos. We will also share some pictures and videos on our Instagram page but not as individualized as you will see on the private page. At 5-6 weeks of age we will have a virtual puppy visit weekend. Come with all your questions and we will answer them as they romp and play around. Following this visit you can send us at least 3 of your favorites. We ask for no less than 3 so that we don’t disappoint anyone if you are not matched to the only one you picked. At this point we also ask for a short video or letter telling us what you are hoping for in your pup. Maybe you wish to do obedience, take your dog out to retrieve ducks, use them for therapy or maybe they’ll just be the family couch potato. We will take this along with the information provided in your application and the puppies temperament tests, which are done at 7 weeks, to match you with the right puppy.

For your puppies safety we do not ship our puppies. You can fly into Phoenix, Prescott, or Flagstaff, travel to our home and take your puppy home on your flight as a carry-on. We will provide you with the necessary travel paperwork for your pup.

If you are unable to pick up during the scheduled go-home dates, we can be flexible, within reason. Contact us directly if you need to schedule outside the go-home date.

We will send you home with a goodie bag for your new pup! This will include puppy appropriate toys, a sample bag of their food/treats/vitamins, and a piece of their blanket with mom’s sent. Also included will be a puppy health assurance certificate, their care record, AKC registration paper and AKC reunite microchip paperwork.

Of course, you will have lifetime breeder support. Once you take home one of our pups, you are forever part of our Granite Mountain Golden family! Reach out with any questions, concerns you may have, and we would love pictures of family updates. If you are in the area we would love to schedule playdates as well. And if for any reason you are unable to keep your Golden Retriever, we will take them back to our home at any point in their life.
